The surface of the land area is 56,594 km², and the surface of the territorial sea is 31,064 km². The overall population of Croatia is 4,437,460 inhabitants. The national composition: the majority of the population are Croats; national minorities are Serbs, Slovenes, Hungarians, Bosnians, Italians, Czechs and others.

Croatia has an amazing 5,835 km of coastline, 4,058 km of which belongs to islands cliffs and reefs. There are 1,185 islands in the Adriatic, while only 47 are populated. The highest peak is Dinara, 1,831 m above the sea level.

There are lots of spring sunny days in March, but unpleasant March showers occur from time to time, while early fall is an ideal time for visiting Croatia for all those looking for some rest. In general, you can travel along the Croatian coast during the whole year. In the winter, however, you will need some warm clothes in spite of the mild Mediterranean climate. Along the shore the temperatures rarely, almost never drop to zero, but because of the wind it can be chilly.
